LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE

El. paštas Spausdinti

lietuviu_niujorkas_2The Lithuanian language, whatever its antiquity, is of a wonderful structure, more perfect than either Sanskrit or Greek, more copious than Latin, and exquisitely refined than any of these three.

Yet, Lithuanian bears to all of them a stronger affinity than could have been produced by nature, not only in the roots of verbs, but also in forms of grammatical structure and the morphological construction of words. So strong is this affinity that any philologist can see very clearly that Sanskrit, Greek and Latin must have sprung from a common source, Lithuanian.

Some 40 days will be spent in prison

El. paštas Spausdinti

gintaras_portretas_2I think that my case is unique in the Lithuanian judicial practice. The Lithuanian courts have punished me as a journalist not for what I have written specifically, but for the mode, how “some statistical reader” may understand my statements. I have become the criminal not for what I think, but for what “others probably think”.

The judicial duel with the resentful general Česlovas Jezerskas, previous candidate to the office of the President of Republic of Lithuania, shows that our judges do not already see any differences between public and private persons, do not understand, how the concepts “cooperated with KGB” and “was controlled by KGB” differ, and that besides the right to resent, there also exists the right to have the critical opinion about person attempting to get the highest office in the State, especially when the particular and not fictitious facts are used.

Vilius Brazenas: Lithuanian – American Freedom Fighter Extraordinaire

El. paštas Spausdinti

brazenas_dzasperisFew other human beings were eye witnesses to, and participants in, events of the 20th Century as was Vilius Brazenas. A survivor of wars, revolution, plague, famine, foreign military occupations and forced deportations, he became a tireless champion of freedom and unyielding foe of totalitarianism in all its forms.

Mr. Brazenas passed away at the age of 97, in a hospital in Vilnius, Lithuania, on October 3rd following complications from a recent fall.

Although best known in his native Lithuania, where his books, essays, and newspaper columns were widely read, and where he was a frequent speaker at major political and education events, Mr. Brazenas also had many admirers throughout the world who came to know him through his speaking engagements sponsored by The John Birch Society and his writing and interviews in The New American magazine.

Statement of the Republic of Azerbaijan of Khojaly Genocide

El. paštas Spausdinti

Copy of hodzaly_pirmojiThroughout the history the Armenian nationalists have committed bloody crimes, terrorist acts and genocide actions against the Azerbaijani people. A great number of historical documents prove that hundreds of thousands Azerbaijanis were massacred and deported from their own lands in the Caucasus in 1905-1907, 1918-1920, 1948-1953, exposed to ethnic cleansing and genocide on their native historical and ethnic territories by the Armenian chauvinists.

Chechens Khadijat and Malik Gataevs: “Your secret services are kept on a string by someone”

El. paštas Spausdinti

Khadizhat and Malik GataevsChechens Khadijat and Malik Gataevs are set to be fee from their confinement place in Kaunas on August 14, 2009. The real reasons of their detention and imprisonment still remain under veil of mystery. The Lithuanian public still does not know why the most important Lithuanian secret service, the Lithuanian State Security Department, headed by Povilas Malakauskas, interfered into family conflict. The Lithuanian public got no explanation yet why SSD officials demanded of Denis Volovsky, Gataevs adopted child, to testify in court against his parents and why our security officials threatened to deport D. Volovsky and apply all legal sanctions if he refuses to witness against Gataevs. Therefore there is a suspicion that successful Gataevs enterprise caused Russia's discontent. Current Kremlin authorities were irritated by the message that behind Russia's borders dozens of Chechen children are being raised as free, independent people respecting their traditions and faith. Also one should not discard a version that because of very solid financial income received from the West by the Lithuanian secret services for the purpose to fight terrorism those secret services tumble head ower heels looking for terrorists in places there never ever been any one of them. There also may be Malik had been under pressure to cooperate with some secret service but he refused and now agents go for revenge...

We publish an exclusive interview by Khadijat and Malik Gataevs for the internet portal www.slaptai.lt and XXI Century newspaper. The interview had been recorded when K. and M. Gataevs were still imprisoned at one of confinement places in Kaunas on July 30, 2009. Journalist Gintaras Visockas talked to Khadijat and Malik Gataevs in a meeting room for almost four hours.

Turks are pushing ahead towards EU membership

El. paštas Spausdinti

O. OzgeSuch statements do exist. Usually Armenian Diaspora states that in 1915 during WWI the Ottoman army killed a lot of Armenians. In 1915 the Ottoman Empire was in war with tsarist Russia. When the Ottoman army attacked the Russian army in the Easter territories of the present Turkey, Russians equipped Armenians living in these territories. Armenians lived in the whole territory of the Empire, but those living in the Eastern part, were equipped by Russians and attacked the Ottoman army from the rear. That is why the Ottoman government was forced to take certain measures and deport those Armenians to Southern Anatolia so army can be safe from the rear. During this deportation some Armenians perished, because of battles with Armenian militia and clashes with the local people or because of severe climate conditions of Eastern Turkey. I can add, that in those days less than 1,5 million Armenians lived in the Ottoman Empire. Scientists, who analyzed the data of those days, state that about 300 thousand Armenians lived in the Ottoman Empire. It is unclear, why the number of perished is 1,5 million, when only 300 thousand lived in the Empires territory. To my point of view, these statements are not right. It may be also added, that during those military attacks 200 thousand Turks living in the Ottoman Empire perished as well as Armenians did. A lot of people were killed during sporadic clashes with Armenians, because of hostility between Armenians and the local people of Eastern Turkey. Both sides - Turks and Armenians - lost a lot of their people, though it is not right to declare that 1,5 million Armenians perished. Armenians were not treated they way it is stated.
